We are happy to announce a collaboration between DLIS UWI MONA, UWI ALMA JORDAN and GO | School for information that resulted in a 3 day (online) course on ‘Transforming Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums (GLAM) in the 21st Century: A Workshop on Developing Innovative Skills, Techniques and Tools.’

This three-day workshop explores communication innovations in the 21st century which impact on how information is created, used, shared and maintained.  It focuses on  new roles and skillsets required for actively engaging users of Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums (GLAMs) via these emerging and disruptive technologies. Participants will be introduced to real-world innovations which can be easily integrated and utilized in all types of GLAMs to ensure that they remain at the cutting edge of technology and can enable visualization, sharing, presenting and communication of  information in real-time. The ability to market services and expand user audiences will be explored as well.

Target audience
This workshop is intended for curators, archivists, records managers, librarians, IT specialists and digital media creators who would like to learn new skills, offer the newest tools and applications to improve their services and market their holdings to target wider audiences.

Structure
Facilitators will guide participants through the workshop material in an interactive and practical way to ensure that participants receive the required knowledge, skills and insights to develop transformative technologically-driven services. To obtain the best result from this workshop, it is strongly recommended that participants bring their own device (laptops, mobile phones, tablets etc.).

Objective
Participants will be introduced to innovative and disruptive technological innovations and garner insights into when and how to use and promote these innovations in their workplaces. They will also become acquainted with the myriad skill sets required to function effectively in GLAMs of the 21st century.

Mode of Delivery
Blended (Face to Face and online). This workshop will be facilitated onsite at the Department of Library and Information Studies (DLIS), The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, Jamaica and online via Zoom communication technology.
